A little late with my weekly entry. A normal week filled with chores and simple pleasures. Ivy has been in a kuih mood.. the above is her 1st attempt on whatever the name of the kuih is. I am really bad with the names of kuihs. It however tasted as it should be ^_^ The good weather encouraged us to skate... but after a long break, we seemed to have forgotten most of our tricks :-P I was quite concerned most of the week with the political situation in Msia.. have even subscribed to Malaysiakini to get as much news as possible... all seems well now ^_^

It's Kuih Salat...although it should be green, overall still looks good...:P~~ slurp slurp.
Damn! Ling Foong beat beat me to it. Good to know the kuih (malay) look & taste nice. Try making it blue colour! Green or Brown are too common.
is tat really ta name?? geez..doubt i will ever remember ta name :-P
You might recognise it as "Kuih Serimuka" instead ;) I'm not sure where the name "Kuih Salat" comes from ... Sing??
Looks like you guys are branching out with food testing. Do send some across if you happen to cook anything that can survive the short postal trip here.
Don't worry Ben, I'm not good with names either. As long as they taste good and doesn't have maggots, that's fine by me. Call it whatever, it's going in my mouth and coming out....
Hi Karen, I agree with you. Seri Muka is the name written on the recipe I found online. I am actually stealing recipes from somebody's blog I found accidentally. I am in a kuih mood suddenly. I made Ang Ku kuih two days ago. Two differences between the authentic ones and mine, 1)the are not ang (red), 2) there are no mold prints. But the taste is there, I guess. :)
I am the anonymous ducky.
Hey ducky, I guessed it was you :) Aren't those blogs great? I love reading them. Tried one out but not kuih.
Doesn't matter as long as tastes good!
hmm... looks good.. and as long as it taste good.. that's all that matters.
well.. am just having lotsa gumbo at the moment, and louisiana kinda food...
I think Kuih Salat is used in Singapore only...or maybe it's from Indo. Not too sure. Only know that is what they call it in Bengawan Solo shops :).
