Life will be back to normality for most people tomorrow. For some reason, i never caught the festive holiday mood. I suppose it's cause i am busy at work and the absence of family. Ivy will be starting work tomorrow...a another new adventure for her ^_^ We kept ourselves busy over the weekend experimenting with our cooking.. pictures as follows :-P

Congratulations, Ivy! What's your new role?
Wah, you guys look like you're heading back to pioneer days with cherry jam and scallops mor ... maybe not the scallops cos that's luxury food :) Can you please cook chilli crabs or Japanese stuffed mushrooms when I visit?
nope.. no can do. our current cuisine experiment of choice is french ^_^ i think i have only cooked crabs once in my life. my frying pan was just too small to fit everything into it :-P
OMG the scallops look great... even better in full size. Looks just like it came out of a high-class bistro kitchen. Salivating as I type.
Sorry, for some reason the cherries looked more apetising then the scallops. Maybe I'm just not into French foods. :)...no offence on the cooking Ben.
Karen, if you visit...I can bring you to have the best chilli crab and pepper crabs you've ever had. :)...darn...now I feel like Crabs...
kev..terima kasih ^_^ quite easy to do it. you want me to email you the receipe??
ah teng.. where's ta chilli crab place??? dun tell me it's east coast park :-P i have never been a crab person. just too lazy to fight wif ta shells ^_^
Very nice... mmmm... scallops. Wanna try my Vegemite lamb?
Things are starting to ramp up again for me. No rest for the wicked! Still feel lazy though.. must be from all the food during the X'mas-New Year break! Have to get more active this year
ah khoo..i will try your vegemite lamb if you will try my sardine cake ^_^
Looks like you need to inject Red Bull :-P How's you cycling getting along anyway?
The cherries look yummy & the scallops too. Bring back some cherries ... when you back to JB. When did you start xperimenting cooking? Bored with the same old cooking? Try mixing chinese with japanese ... eg. sushi fried rice w/ fish cake.
Already experimented on Jap.. bored wif it already ^_^
Cherries are only in season during summer.. doubt they are still around wen i go back :-P
yummy.... well... all i can say.. crabs are my fav.. doesnt matter where, as long as they cook it right.. and the scallops, and fresh, fresh oysters, and lobsters etc...
and if any of you wanna visit, you can get good food here too... nothing typically msian, or french or jap etc, but it will be a real fusion...
love those fresh cherries... the ones they sell here are expensive and crap... so i guess i'll juz have to wait till i next visit!!
Cooking ... what is that??
eh? didn't u use to cook quite a bit?
Ah Ben, no not the place in East coast. East coast is too ex...and the quality not that great. There are a lot of places that serve better crab, chillie, black pepper, white pepper...whichever way you want it. You can always convince Ah Por to remove the shells for you :)...alternately, there's always the open project of getting a shell-less crab...hmmmm...Alan, how's the boneless chicken project going ?
i think wat alan wanted to say was that he wants hayden to feed him boneless chicken when he is old ^_^
i will settle for porridge when the time comes :-P
Boneless chicken project turned to boneless zombie chickens.... scary thought... being chased around by zombie chickens with necks flapping from side to side.
What sardine cake?? You serious or is this a joke? My vegemite lamb is fair dinkum. Ask Karen & Hayden - they ate it. Was a little salty that's all
mine's a joke ^_^ wah your's serious eh..aiya
Err ... he's right. The vegemite lamb was pretty nice though we had to drink lots of water :P He's promised to tone down the vegemite the next time.
Hi Lee Peng, long time no see, no hear, no talk! :D
Hello - great to be back :-) and ling, I have a solution to the 'shell-less' crab ... it's probably soft-shell crabs (yummy).
Ok ok I can cook (just!) but it is the preparation and cleaning up bit that I don't like. Not to mention the smell of oil that stubbornly lingers in my tiny flat when I cook something ambitious. No belachan though - my neighbours would have a fit!
i live in a small flat too.. not tat bad lah. just a matter of having a gud stove hood and air freshner ^_^ anyway, i do have a portable stove that i use to cook in the balcony for the more potent stuff :-P hell wif ta neighbours.. ta indian curry and bbq stuff are just as smelly anyway.
LP, just invite the neighbours over and assimulate them into the belachan culture...that will convert them. :)
You know what they say, if you can't beat them...carry a bigger stick.
Hmmm...vegemite lamb...both are not exactly my favourite. Sounds weird, but then again, coming from Alan...anything's possible right Alan ? :)....
i guess when it comes to smell, we dont have a problem over here.. i can smell what my neighbours are serving up almost everyday.. especially on weekends....
This brings to mind something I belatedly realized about apartment living - the neighbours are alltooclosetogether!
Luckily I tend to keep irregular hours i.e. I'm not around when they cook but sometimes the smell lingers, particularly if they've had fish.
As Ser would say, Ewww...gross!
bah... house dweller
Well, this house dweller still smells a good old BBQ quite often, and our Sri Lankan neighbour's curries late at night. No complaints here. I've been wanting to invite myself over for some time now.
