2007 - Tamat

Goodbye 2007.. an eventful year it was and tis blog site is the testimony of events for me. It is hard to believe that i managed to maintain tis blog for over a year, and more amazing that i managed to find things to post every week :-P It helps that Karen maintains her blog concurrently and i am particularly motivated by the growing community of people commenting on tis site ^_^ Seeing everyone's comments gives me the sense there is a thread of communication between us...a feelin that everyone is still here ^_^

Enough of being long winded.. here is the series of pictures from the long xmas-new year break. Feeling like a tourist again ^_^

Body and head have similar character ^_^

Our day at Taroonga Zoo. I must say.. tis zoo is really gud (not that i have been to many zoos..have only been to JB's and Spore zoo.. hee hee) But the views here are spectacular and the animals are active. A recommended tourist place if you have 1/2 a day to spare ^_^

New Year's Eve celebration..our journey started from Meadowbank train station. If you flip back to the to previous NYE 2007 blog, you will find a similar picture. It did feel like deja-vu to ivy and me tis year.

Boom boom again. Happy 2008! Every new year's fireworks seems less impressive from the last. I think i am getting immune to all tis... bad thing about aging is that things and moments impress us less with time. Funnily, when ivy and me watched the news of the world's NYE fireworks, Sydney's footage always look really gud. I suppose waiting for hours just for the few minutes of joy kinda wears you down during the moment.

Another shot of ta fireworks

The queue to get to the train station..dunno why we put ourselves thru all tis year in year out :-P

Congratulations on an entertaining and well-posted blog, Ju-Ju!

I'm deeply honoured to be mentioned here *bow*. Having a blog friend certainly helps one to stay current with one's own blog :P

Happy New Year to you and Ivy! May 2008 bring you more shared experiences to write about.

Errr ... it's rather worrying that Ivy's features are becoming more manly and is prematurely balding. Is it the water in your neck of the woods?

Well, it's either the fireworks and crowds ... or you could spend it with kids and grandparents, like we seem to be doing annually.

Oops .... wishing all our friends a Happy New Year too! May you enjoy good health and exciting adventures in 2008. It's great to be able to trade news with most of the Monash crew here.

Btw, who's the leeps person from the last post? Was it Lee Peng??

Happy New Year to all!

I'm sure some of you would have reflected on 2007 - what you did, how your 2007 resolutions fared, experiences you have shared, etc. To a certain extent, I'm happy I've achieved my target in 2007 and it's now putting my heart & energy into 2008's.

Have you done your new year's resolutions?

Ben said...

2008 resolution = maintain tis blog and try to make $$ off the blog ^_^

Yup - it's me, Lee Peng. It has been a while since I last got in touch with any of you. How time flies.

Hope everyone had a blast on New Year and may 2008 bring you all the things you wish for.

2008 resolutions - Save money. Go diving. Attempt a marathon. Climb Kilimanjaro. More horse-riding. Work less. Drink less. Laugh more. Get my UK driving license. Explore UK. The list goes on and on...and some are backlogs from previous years!

Ben said...

wah.. ah peng, still very fit eh. tis knees of mine can't climb no high mountains no more... nor do any marathons ^_^

ah khoo+ah teng+kev+ah yang+yyee+mich.. can you guys still do these stuff?

Happy New Year to you & Ivy! I actually thought this year's fireworks was really nice, better than last years. More creative and variety. But then again, I was watching it from the comforts of home, sprawled on the sofa with a beer in one hand and a Wii controller in the other.. hehe. Once is enough for me, ain't gonna wait 6hrs for countdown, not blinking for next 10mins, then get crushed on the 2hr journey home.

Keep the blog going =)

Ben said...

Ms Khoo..Happy NY to u n Ernest too ^_^ Dunnit to wait 6hrs la.. only arrived under ta bridge at 10pm :-P but getting back was a hassle. Doubt we will do tis again..ivy and me have done it 4 times already... sigh.

Happy New Year, all!

No, Ben, climbing, running, etc. are all out of bounds these days. Not a physical limitation- it's just that we're usually breathlessly running after the kids (who are incidentally, so into running, climbing, swimming, {insert other dangerous activity here} etc.) :-)

I don't know what you're complaining about - the Sydney fireworks always look good to me! All we had were puny fireworks that got shot off at a rate of about one every two or three secs, nothing like the concentrated bursts you see on TV!

Oh, and I thought that shot of Putin was perfect!

Ben said...

yyee..i dunno why thy dun sell shoes with weights in them.. i am sure we can slow the kids down tat way ^_^

i admit, the fireworks do look great on TV, tat's why ivy and me keep getting "con" to go there year in year out. However, you don't get to see the overall fireworks sync when you are under the bridge or at the opera house..and the long wait for just a burst of 10mins and the subsequent 2 hrs wait back wears you down :-P

fireworks..we dont have good stuff here... i guess if i was there, i'd go thru the hassle and make it there..

hmmm... climbing, running etc.. i guess we dont do much anymore.. time and old knees, but every so often we still do a short track up gasing hill, with the kidz, and at times i think it's even harder, coz they just have so much energy, and they are pulling full speed. but after an outing like that, sam & i are usually dead!! :-)

have not been diving for years, and anything that requires lots of energy.... the most we do is our camping trips during cny, which combines, fishing, tracking, camping, and not forgetting, good food & lots of relaxation!

Er... just a question for you Sydneysiders, why do you go under the bridge to watch fireworks?

Isn't there a high vantage point where you could see the fireworks from?

But you're right- the coming and going to those events is really tiring. This year we parked about 2 kilometres away in TTDI to go watch the fireworks at 1U. So, some walking, but our getaway took us only 10 minutes instead of the usual 1 hour.

Ben said...

Only the vantage points at the bridge and the opera house have a train station nearby. all the other points only have bus access and they close most of the roads leading to the points. you will need to arrive well 8hrs before the event if you wanna get any sort of parking... and the roads only reopens after 2am.

Too bad i dunno know anyone who owns apartments with a gud view of ta harbour ^_^

Kaz said...

I was just about to say. The best place to view it live is probably from one of those apartments across from the bridge. I was fortunate enough to be invited along with a friend who knew someone living in one of those apartments. Best fireworks watching I've done ... great view, comfortable seating, good food and non-stop flow of alco :D

Firstly, great pics of the fireworks...

And nope, can't do things like climbing mountains anymore. You'll probably have to call a helicopter ambulance to bring me down...if at all :). And yeah, I'm starting to get that knee thing you've been having Ben. Sigh...signs of age showing up.

Wow, finally see Leeps here. Was wondering what happened...Leeps, been a loooooong loooooong while...

Ben said...

Ah Teng, thanxs in regards to ta pix ^_^

Your knees hurt now? You taking glucosomine? It helps for some ppl. Doesn't do %$#@! for me though.

When did Ah Peng become Leeps?? Sounds like some vege :-P

Er - Not sure where Leeps came from either but not the first time I have heard of this nickname (and I have heard loads ...;-))

Anyway - great to see the original gang still chatting away. And wadaya mean age is catching up? Been fitter than I was back in my 20's - does not mean thinner but hey, we can't have everything! another complaint is the need for more sleep as I get older since I thought that was supposed to be the total opposite.

Oops that was me - Lee Peng.
