Our ride on Mekong river. We rode on this "river cat" from the thai border into the middle of Laos. It was not a luxury ride and it cost us USD20/each. We sat in that little boat for 8 hours! I don't think i want to go thru that again. But they were fond memories.
Spinach pizze. Laos used to be occupied by the french. They left quite a bit of their continental cuisine behind. I liked this pizza and the beer ^_^
Back alley food. Similar to the old hawker centers in Msia but a lot cleaner. Their soup noodles were brilliant and so was the buffalo satay ^_^
Night market in Luang Prabang (LB). LB is a designated World Heritage site. Their streets are clean and building architecture have strong French influence. They have night markets almost every night for the locals to peddle their crafts to the tourist. Serious haggling is required. Beautiful town.. ivy and me will go there again in the future... any takers??
Mekong river. Ivy and me spent quite a bit of time lazing in this spot doing nothing .
Wat Xieng Thong. The most famous temple in Laos.
Ivy and me couldn't get on the correct bus and landed up in this little "jewel" of a town called Vang Vieng. This was what we saw when we got off the bus... boy did we think we made a big mistake in choice...
We walked thru Vang Vieng and this was what we discovered at the end of the road (actually thru old houses and vegetable markets).... our hearts felt lifted by the sight. I honestly thanked God for leading us there. Till today, pictures of this place brings happiness and peacefulness to me.
More pictures of Vang Vieng
Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The Great Sacred Stupa.. the national monument of Vientiane. Not a cloud in the sky.. simply beautiful.
Final memory of Laos.. this sunset view at the end of Mekong river in Vientiane
By popular request, here are some photos from our Laos trip. This was my 1st and only backpacking trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey and still wish for more.
I'm back. Been busy. Photos are nice. However, the "Great Sacred Stupa" look kind fake like computer generated image. No hard feeling, it just looks un-real. BTW, are you OK? Like to see photos of your workplace & colleauges.
The Great Stupa does look like it has been photoshopped...but i didn't have photoshop then ^_^ They painted the whole thing gold and the sky was cloudless... it looked unreal to me too when i saw it.
Ok, will post photos of my workplace in ta next blog.
I am doing ok. Trying to be happy being alone. I keep this blog to force myself to do something every week rather than rot and sulk at home (which i do occasionally)
Ivy is coming next week for a visit . Raymond and yin have indicated that they will visit sometime in late June. So.. i do have quite a bit to look forward to ^_^

Beautiful photos! I'm tickled by how you always manage to have food shots :D
Hey.. i like my food !
The river shots all look so peaceful.
That's where we had our James Bond motorboat ride. 3hours of adrenalin shot worth remembering for a lifetime.
The river WAS peaceful. And the fast boat ride froze my nose ^_^
